Custom Machine & Tool Co., Inc. will be attending the 2008 PTDA Industry Summit and participating in the MD-IDEX booth event, which will be held on October 18-20, 2007 at the Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, NV.

The MD-IDEX (Manufacturer/Distributor Idea Exchange) program at the PTDA Industry Summit is designed specifically to provide top executives of distributor firms, opportunities to meet for one-on-one dialogue with top level executives of manufacturer members to discuss business opportunities and issues.

Custom Machine & Tool Co., Inc. is celebrating 40 years in the design and manufacture of mechanical power transmission and motion control products in the Boston area this year.

The business started in 1964 in Scituate, Ma. manufacturing parts on screw machines. Today, 40 years later, Custom Machine & Tool Co., Inc. is located in Weymouth, Ma. only 10 miles from its original location. CMT now uses state of the art CNC manufacturing machines and computerized planning and control systems to maintain its northeast manufacturing competitive advantage. Custom Machine & Tool Co., Inc. installs new business software. The new software by Shoptech called E2 will substantially enhance the ability of CMT to meet the demanding needs of its customers. The software provides a complete suite of manufacturing, inventory management and business systems. The software will allow CMT to enhance its competitive cost position thereby providing customers with the maximum value available for their power transmission and motion control product needs.

Custom Machine & Tool Co., Inc. has been awarded US patent (#6,568,063) for a revolutionary new shaft to hub keyless locking system. The new system called Concentric Maxi Torque consists of a single set screw attachment for a tapered locking bushing. The new system has enhanced torque capacity and superior concentricity over other tapered locking devices. The enhanced features are achieved through its minimal bushing taper combined with its single screw locking and unlocking capability. The new system is an ideal replacement for press fits, keyways, pins, set screws, clamp collars and all other keyless shaft to hub attachment devices. Custom Machine & Tool Co., Inc.'s new Concentric Maxi Torque keyless shaft to hub connection system is chosen by a high speed mail sorting equipment company to solve shaft attachment problems associated with component run out, misalignment, and mass reduction which other solutions could not provide. Through multiple test evaluations and the demanding requirements of the customer, CMT provided superior results over alternative connection systems time after time. Custom Machine & Tool Co., Inc. continues its commitment to the FIRST program by supplying components for this year's robotic competition. FIRST endeavors to provide students access to power transmission and motion control components in a hands on educational experience which requires them to design, select and assemble a wide variety of components into mechanized machines and then compete with them. CMT believes the FIRST program provides a spark of interest which encourages young people to pursue careers in technology. CMT is proud to be associated with the work of FIRST.

Mr. Robert Bennett completes his two year term as president of MPTA (Mechanical Power Transmission Association). Mr. Bennett was succeeded by Mr. Charles Lloyd from Maurey Manufacturing Corp. During Mr. Bennett's term as president, he focused on organization awareness and increasing membership.
